Woodworkers Combat Skills Crisis

ACS is among several woodworking businesses and organizations that have been proactive agianst a nationwide skills crisis especially in the woodworking industry. Several factors have attributed to this issue including schools discontinuing woodshop and hands-on trainging as well as misconseptions about oversea's manufacturing taking over. Organizations such as Woodwork Career Alliance of North America (WCA) and Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) have developed programs to educate, develop, and evaluate students and skilled woodworkers.

ACS developed myShop Student Outreach in 2012 as a part of AWI's Adopt-A-Shop program. myShop focuses on educating high school students to motivate their interest in their upcoming careers and show them the cross section of available careers at a woodworking manufacturing facility.
